If you’re a new visitor to Church of the Cross, we want you to always feel welcome. We understand that visiting a church for the first time can sometimes be uncomfortable, especially if you don’t know what to expect. We want you to feel comfortable, so this page seeks to answer some of the questions you may have.
Q: What time should I be there?
A: Our Sunday morning church services start at 9:30 am and 12:00 pm. However many people like to arrive a bit earlier so that they can meet and greet in the hall before church.
Q: How long does the service last?
A: The typical service usually lasts a little over an hour.
Q: What about Sunday School?
A: We have a variety of Sunday School classes for both children and adults. To find out more about our Sunday School program and the curriculum each class uses, click here.
Q: What should I wear? (What will other people be wearing?)
A: You can wear whatever you like. When it comes to attire, our congregation wears everything from suits to t-shirts. There’s even the occasional football jersey.
Q: What is the service like?
A: 9:00 am This service includes a mixture of both traditional hymns and praise songs. We are a close-knit community of believers, so we have a time set aside to share joys and concerns and a time for greeting. This service includes a song performed by the Choir, offering, prayers, bible reading, and a sermon from Pastor Jim. Children enjoy the children’s moment when Pastor Jim gets down on their level and presents them a lesson which usually is on the same topic as his sermon of the day.
12:00 pm This service has a more contemporary style of music. We share praises and prayer concerns. There is a scripture reading and we enjoy a sermon from Pastor Jim. After the service we share lunch and enjoy each other’s fellowship. This service is very casual and has a family feel.
We encourage you to try both services to see which is a better fit for you. Some people decide to attend both.
Q: How can I find out more about Christianity?
A: You can find out more about Christianity by attending church services and Sunday School classes with an open heart and an open mind.
Q: How can I become better acquainted with the people in this church?
A: If you want to get to know us better, we encourage you to become involved in some of the many activities that we offer. Attend a Sunday School class or a Bible Study group. Also, check out the sidebar for days and times of all the activities going on at the church.
